hello lovelies i come to you with a special edition little treat for this time in need also known as election week
this has truly been a special hell of back to back world series (go dodgers obvi), two formula one grand prix in a row both that have both been equally emotionally devastating and this god forsaken election that has somehow lasted a decade my bones hurt my brain hurts i tirey
so here has been my game plan to survive and extra ways i plan to keep myself afloat this week as it all goes down- i broke it up into vibes to make it a bit easier
i want to be coddled
sometimes you really just want to be in a bubble because you have processed all you can and that is one thousand percent reasonable we have lived through so many historic moments.
your plan: you’re gonna pick yourself some mind numbing television- which is very choose your own adventure maybe you want to live in a world where everyone wears sweaters and gets a paul hollywood handshake or maybe you want to watch people ruin their lives over fake problems- and then you’re gonna get some soft slippers, a little hair mask and a glass of wine or root beer or whatever is your jam and make a little sweet treat like some cookies or muffins and just be soft with yourself until you’re ready to get back into it
i want to fight
incredible option- maybe you already voted and the idea of sitting still is a fate worse than death. this purgatory of sending in your ballot through the mail and waiting for everyone else to vote is heinous so maybe you need to get out and do as much as you can.
your plan: you’re going to look up opportunities near you to volunteer at your polling place because i promise you they need help, phone bank for your candidate (i’m not linking anyone else i’m not playing with y’all), and then you’re going to go to a rage room because that is so much stress to have in your body my god.
the happy medium
the third vibe is you want to be distracted but you still want to be in the know. it’s very dog with a backpack where you need to give yourself a little job to keep from going insane but you can’t be too out of the loop either.
your plan: you are going to first find a hobby that keeps your hands busy i’ve heard that crochet is lovely i myself love to make weird little trinkets for my various cosplays just take yourself to a michaels and find something that won’t overwhelm you but will keep you busy or find a good little workout video on youtube, go for a walk, do some yoga just get those endorphins going. the final part is finding good sources and not going insane which is arguably the hardest part. my parents are so cute and sent both a breakdown of ann selzer’s predictions and how to deal with anxiety during a time like this so find the tools to help you stay in the loop but a functioning person.
